Bio

Robert grew up in the mountains outside of Butte Montana. From a young age Robert had a love for the mountains and the outdoors. Skiing with his mother and going on adventures with his father as a child shaped Robert’s desires in life. In addition, while growing up Robert had a passion for sports, academics, and mixed martial arts. As Robert got through grade school, he began working in the Biology Department of Montana Technological University, thanks to the mentorship of Dr. Marisa Pedulla. As Robert neared high school graduation, he came to a crossroads. Follow a passion for science and biology or live a more outdoor centered life. An outdoor life won out when Robert decided to attend Montana State University and study Snow Science after a friend, mentor, and ski coach Peter Maxwell died in an avalanche.

In college Robert’s love of skiing inevitably led him from the resort to the backcountry. Naturally passions for mountaineering and climbing developed shortly after. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree from MSU Robert committed himself to being the best mountain athlete possible, pursuing a career as a professional skier, climber, and mountaineer.

Robert’s greatest goals are to have positive effects on the environment and kids! He sets up projects to inform others about issues facing the environments while volunteering his time with kids. Robert believes that the best way to protect the future is through the positive environmental impact. While the greatest way to impact the future is to positively influence the next generation.

Robert lives his life by three rules taught to him by his mentor John Amtmann from a young age. Rule 1: Be Respectful. Rule 2: Try Your Hardest. Rule 3: Have Fun. Along the way, don’t forget to Enjoy The Journey
